Why use pediatric case managers?
Rebound Kids offers a paediatric case management model to support recovery for children with any injury type or severity.
Child Development
As experienced Paediatric clinicians we have an in-depth understanding of typical childhood development and how to work with children whose development has been interrupted by traumatic injuries – offering the right treatments at the right stage of their development.
Family Centred
We work in a family centred way collaborating with parents to understand the child, their needs and goals. We ‘join’ with a family to establish strong lasting therapeutic rapport enabling us to achieve real results.
Diagnostics
We obtain a clear diagnosis for all injuries sustained to include TBI severity. This enables us to coordinate an appropriate, evidence based treatment program for each child. When the injury is severe it also enables the case manager and claims manager to ensure that the child is in the correct compensation scheme (CTP vs LTCS).
School
We have extensive experience working with DET and private schools to ensure that the child is adequately funded and supported through the DET / School pathways. We ensure that each child has an Individualised Learning Plan in place and in action. We also ensure that any pre-injury learning needs are also accommodated and funded by the school. We support and educate teachers so that they can better meet the needs of the child with an injury in their classroom environment.
As students reach the end of high school we work with the School Counsellors to apply for the Educational Access Schemes (enabling those with severe injuries to achieve higher ATAR scores) and ensure that students have Special Provisions (such as extra time or rest breaks) for the examinations.
Paediatric Treatment Providers
We have knowledge of experienced paediatric allied health clinicians across NSW with whom we work to offer evidence based treatment programs locally for our paediatric clients.
Career Choices / Transition
For those school leavers with severe injuries making career choices and finding work is particularly difficult. We work with the youth, the school and disability employment agencies to ensure that these students are supported to identify realistic and appropriate career options. Vocational Assessments are coordinated as required. We support the youth in mapping out future study / work experience pathways and coach them throughout these years to ensure that they are able to secure employment.
PCANS, and WeeFim Assessments
We are able to complete standardised functional and care needs assessments for those paediatric clients whom have suffered traumatic brain injuries.
Other Agencies
We work in conjunction with Centrelink, FACS, DOCS and Housing to advocate for the child and their family to ensure that they are receiving all that they are entitled to in terms of support and access to these services.
