Going for Goals
Going for Goals
Occupational Therapy Services
We offer paediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) services with a difference.
Some children and teenagers struggle with the “normal” day to day practicalities and challenges at home, school or pre-school and in social settings. This is even more apparent for those with developmental delays or diagnosed disorders.
Your child may face challenges and obstacles in life. These challenges are unique to them and change depending on your child’s age, stage of development and your family’s needs.
Our OT services are goal based and solution focussed. This is not just a catch-phrase but the very essence of our services.
- we work with you to specify practical, measurable and achievable goals to improve your child’s performance in real-life tasks that matter to you and your child
- we devise achievable steps for you and your child to implement
- we work with you to monitor progress, re-evaluate challenges and, if needed, set new goals as your child’s needs or abilities shift
Our approach
A goal is a desired result, no matter how big or small.
What do you and your child want to do that they are struggling with now, for example:
- put on their shoes and socks?
- participate in a family dinner?
- follow instructions in class?
- complete handwriting in time so that they finish their work?
As passionate OTs, we want the best for you and your child. We will advocate and encourage your child to reach further, do more, and be more independent in their daily lives. We use evidence-based therapy to help children learn to problem solve, adapt to and manage their developmental difficulties.
However, we are realistic and see your child’s development on a continuum. No matter how small that goal may seem, each and every goal that your child sets, works toward, and achieves, forms another stepping stone towards the best life they can lead.
Where do we work?
We believe that in most cases the best place for ‘therapy’ is in the child’s natural environment, although we will work with you to agree on the best place as part of the assessment process. We will partner with Educational institutions (Early Learning Centres, pre-schools and schools) and Medical and Allied Health Professionals as agreed with you and your child.
We accept referrals for children who live, or are at school/early education, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Please contact us if you have requirements outside of this area.
